The Mi-24P (NATO designation: Hind-F) is one of the most powerful and recognizable variants in the Mi-24 family. Its defining feature is a fixed 30mm GSh-30K twin-barrel autocannon, mounted on the right side of the fuselage.

Key Aspects of the Mi-24P

• Firepower: The transition from the rotating machine gun (like the 12.7mm Yak-B used on the Mi-24V) to the fixed 30mm cannon significantly increased its armor-piercing capabilities, allowing it to effectively engage lightly armored vehicles.
• Design: Due to the size and weight of the 30mm cannon, the forward fuselage was redesigned, removing the lower mobile turret and optimizing the internal space for the ammunition feed system.
• Multi-role Capacity: Despite the change in armament, it retains the characteristic "Hind" ability to transport up to 8 fully equipped soldiers in the cargo bay, along with external pylons for rockets and anti-tank missiles.
• Operational Context: It was introduced to meet the need for greater suppression power and anti-tank capability from the air, becoming a key element in Soviet close air support doctrine.
